Braxton Padgett is a shareholder practicing primarily in the firm’s education law section, representing clients across the State of Florida in complex transactional and litigation matters. Mr. Padgett has experience counseling private schools, charter schools, and management organizations on a wide variety of issues, including contract negotiations, policy development, governance, regulatory compliance, employee relations, and student discipline and rights. Mr. Padgett has served as borrower’s counsel in multi-million dollar financing and real estate transactions involving schools.
Mr. Padgett also has extensive litigation and appellate experience involving public funding, public records, and charter school application denials. During his career, Mr. Padgett has been involved in successful appeals before Florida’s First District Court of Appeal, Fourth District Court of Appeal, and Fifth District Court of Appeal. Mr. Padgett has been a featured speaker at the Florida Charter School Conference, presenting on issues relating to public records and school safety.
Born and raised in Central Florida, Mr. Padgett graduated with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Padgett served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Technology Law and Policy, overseeing the transition of the journal to an all-online format. Prior to law school, Mr. Padgett attended the University of South Florida for his undergraduate studies, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. After graduating from the University of South Florida, Mr. Padgett spent two years teaching United States History at a high school in Polk County, Florida.
Mr. Padgett and his wife enjoy barbeque, Disney, concerts, and, most of all, their two dogs Graham and Daisy.
