Dr. Russell Froman has had an extensive academic career, first earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from Auburn University where he also lettered in baseball. Then, Dr. Froman attended Florida State University where he earned a Master of Science in Counselling and Psychology. Later, while attending the University of Florida, Dr. Froman earned a Doctor in Education specializing in Education Administration. During his career, Dr. Froman has had extensive experience as a K-12 administrator, serving as an Assistant Principal in North Carolina and the Assistant Principal, Interim Principal, and Principal for the University of Florida’s Developmental Research School.
After serving as a K-12 administrator for well over a decade, Dr. Froman earned his Juris Doctor at the Stetson University College of Law where he served as the Vice President of the Higher Education Law Student Association.
After graduating law school, Dr. Froman became the Title IX Coordinator at the University of Florida. In this role, Dr. Froman directed all aspects of a comprehensive Title IX program for 90,000 students and employees, including conducting intake, assigning investigations, education initiatives, providing support, and maintaining compliance.
In 2019, Dr. Froman was promoted to Assistant Vice President for Accessibility and Gender Equity at the University of Florida, serving in this role until August 2024. In this role, Dr. Froman was responsible for overseeing all legal compliance for accessibility and gender equity for the university.
Much of Dr. Froman’s practice has centered around Title IX, VAWA, Campus SAVE Act, Clery Act, the IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the ADA, as well as compliance reporting and employment law related to K-12 schools and higher education. Dr. Froman also has extensive experience with interpretation, policy drafting, and operating procedures for federal, state, and K-12 athletic mandates.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Froman enjoys spending quality time with his wife and daughters, attending Broadway plays, and watching soccer matches.
